This very article is a logical continuation of the first one. But here I want to pay attention to the development of  «must haves».

When you develop your own website you should not neglect little things, because all this scope of little things can ruin your website's usability.

Web development tips

1. Clearing floating elements

You should check the CSS code of the block and put attributes:

selector {
    display: block;
    overflow: hidden;
}

This will solve the problem even if you don't set a height of the element.

2. Phone numbers

Across all web development tips that I know this one is the smallest. But devil's in the details.

You can give your visitors an ability to make calls right from their mobile devices with a <a href> tag:

<a href="tel:0123456789">0123456789</a>

3. Media rich content

When trying to build a responsive website you need to write lots of media queries. CSS media queries are used to determine the type of media. Don’t forget about mobile devices’ screens.

For example, you have shrift colour that will be not seen in low resolution screen.

web development tips - screens

You have black website with grey colour of the body text. You understand, that it will be hard for visitors to read.

body {
    color: #444141;
}
@media only screen and (min-width: 1200px) {
    body {
        color: #FFFFFF;
    }
}

The code above will make the whole body text white if the screen size is less than 1200px.

4. Responsive design for mobile devices

Recently I wrote about statistics which shows that many people prefer to search and buy products using mobile devices, not the computer.

You should know specifics of all the mobile devices. If you want optimize mobile design for iPhone and iPad you should remember about the double tap function that zooms the website twice.

To disable user zooming and scaling you need to add a code:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1">

5. Comment your code

So far, so simple - you should remember that other people need to understand your code. So comment it, name the layers, organize your files. It seemed to be cumbersome, but in fact it does not take much time.

I hope that my web development tips was informative for you. Development is a really hard process. Let professionals to fix your issues and help you with it.
